The City of Goodland is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. Goodland is a community of approximately 5,000 located near the western border of Kansas. The Goodland Police Department is a progressive agency that employs 9 officers, including an investigator and a canine handler. Duties include responding to general public calls for service, investigating both misdemeanor and felony complaints, enforcing municipal, state and federal laws as well as traffic ordinances. Currently, the City pays 100% of family health insurance premium. All uniforms and equipment are provided, including take home patrol units for those officers residing within the city limits. Starting salary is dependent upon qualifications. KLETC Certification preferred, but not required.
- be U.S. Citizens that are at least 21 years of age
- possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- have the ability to obtain a valid Kansas Driver’s License
- have no felony convictions, diversions or expunged records
- no convictions for domestic battery
- possess good moral character
Applicants will be required to pass a written test, physical agility test, and an oral interview board. Final candidates will be required to pass an extensive background investigation. A conditional job offer requires the applicant pass a psychological evaluation, physical and drug test.
Certified law enforcement applicants must not have any Brady/Giglio material in background to be eligible for hiring.
