Filled: City Manager

The City of Goodland, Kansas is seeking applications for the position of City Manager.

Located directly on 1-70 in NW Kansas, three hours east of Denver, Goodland is a full-service (police, fire, airport, parks, water, sewer and electric), agriculture-based community, and has a long history of strong support for the city manager form of government. The 2016 total city budget is $15.5M.

Known locally as the ‘The Topside of Kansas’, Goodland has a population of 4,500, is the county seat of Sherman County, and is home to the highly-regarded Northwest Kansas Technical College (‘Northwest Tech’).

Candidates will be evaluated and chosen for final interviews on the basis of education and specific experience. Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree and/or management-certificated preferred; city manager experience preferred; management experience in municipal electric and public works a plus.

NOTE: Due to an insufficient initial-post application response, the salary offer for this position has been increased to $85,000. The applicant ultimately chosen by the City Commission will be offered a multi-year contract.
