The City of Goodland is currently accepting applications for highly motivated individuals to fulfill the position of Police Officer I or II. Goodland is a community of approximately 5,227 covering 4.371 sq. miles, approximately 17 miles from the Colorado border. We are a progressive law enforcement agency that employs nine (9) full-time sworn police officers including a detective and a canine officer, one (1) full-time civilian employee and two (2) part-time civilian employees. Patrol duties include enforcing federal, state and local laws and ordinances, investigating crimes and accidents, and providing public assistance. TYPE: Full Time

SALARY: Patrol Officer pay range $15.40-$20.00, based on experience and qualifications. The City also provides a competitive benefits package including paid health insurance for individual or family, KPERS retirement program, paid holidays, paid sick leave as well as other benefits.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must:

  • be U.S. Citizens that are at least 21 years of age at the time of hire
  • possess a High School diploma or GED.
  • have the ability to obtain a valid Kansas Driver’s License
  • have no felony convictions, diversions or expunged records
  • no convictions for domestic battery
  • possess good moral character

Applicants will be required to pass a written test, physical agility test, and an oral interview board. Final candidates will be required to pass an extensive background investigation. A conditional job offer requires the applicant pass a psychological evaluation, physical and drug screen.
